The Junior Reds return to action on Saturday night after having a week off to prepare for their match in Rochester. Although this will be the closest to home they’ve been all season, Toronto FC II are in for a tough match in Rochester which is just a 170 miles away from Toronto. The Rochester Rhinos hold the USL’s best record with 17 points, and undefeated, after seven matches. The Rhinos were founded in 1996 and among the initial teams in the USL and Toronto FC II has had difficulty against teams who are well established in the league. Another aspect that will make it more difficult for Toronto FC II are how they have not yet earned a result against a team outside of Canada.
Jason Bent will have some decisions to make about the starting eleven. With the off week, and the first team looking to rest some players ahead of their home opener on Sunday, Jordan Hamilton, Quillan Roberts, Jay Chapman and Christopher Mannella, were all called up to play in the Canadian Championship match against Montreal on Wednesday night. They all should be available in Rochester as well, and they’ll need them. Expect to see them all play and looking to impress.
The weather in Rochester has heavy rain and thunderstorms in the forecast. It has also been a warm 30c which could also play a factor. A large crowd should be out for this one with a few wearing red among the green and yellow. If you can’t be at the match tonight you can watch the match live on YouTube at 7:00pm. Will Toronto FC II make history and break the streak of poor results versus established USL squads? Will Toronto FC II get a result for the first time outside of Canada? You won’t want to miss this one!
