Final Score:……Sigma FC……..2…….North Mississauga Panthers…….1…..

Attendance started off slow but eventually climbed to about 120 on this mild afternoon. This game was
a ‘home’ game for Sigma although NMP shares this facility. NMP officially plays on Field ‘2’ which is beside
the endzone of #1. A ‘home’ game for the NMP women’s team started near the end of this game against
Woodbridge losing 3-1 to make it a bad day for the NMP teams but by then I was off to another
men’s game in Brampton.

Just eleven days ago I wrote that when NMP won 4-2 against FC London with NMP playing with ten men from
the 12 minute mark as my ‘Game of the Year’ but today felt different. The second Yellow was so unnecessary
as Bradley Fenton made a sliding tackle while 75 yards away from goal. NMP had only about three good
chances from the 59 minute mark in today’s game.

Suspended for this game for NMP were David Alva (who took the Red in the London game) and captain
Jose Melo from Yellow card accumulation (he drew a Yellow card in the London game). Melo is their leading
scorer with 11 goals but in last week’s game he was all over the field taking cornerkicks, freekicks, and
setting up teammates. He was certainly missed in this game.

Sigma have lost Leaford Allen for the season as he’s returned to school at University of Charleston.
He has been gone for a month and leads the team with 17 goals. Today Justin Stoddart tied for second
leading scorer for Sigma with 5 goals!

Referee Michael Stenbring gave out two Yellow cards to each team besides the Red card to NMP.

Best non-scoring chances were at 18 minutes when NMP Michael Krzeminski took a 12 yard shot from
the right though traffic to the short side and the goalie dove to push the ball wide right of the post.
Sigma had a two minute fury starting at 57 minutes when Sigma Jordan Kalonji got a cross from the left
inside the box and turned and stepped forward and fired a 12 yard shot that the goalie sprawled to save
at 6 yards. Sigma Simon Triantafillou had a 12 yard shot from the right that the goalie batted down and
a defender cleared. Sigma Olumide Soji Olatoye shot a 15 yarder that the goalie stopped on a sliding save.
79 minutes had NMP Kevin Dhillon take a cornerkick from the right that NMP Brandon Wellington
in a crowd of players headed an 8 yarder that the goalie caught on the right side of the net. 94 minutes
had NMP Dhillon with another cornerkick from the right had the ball flicked across the box on a header
and NMP Shawn Brown dove to head from 7 yards that was saved.

Sigma’s record improves to 13 wins, 5 losses, 2 ties for 41 points. They flip back into first place
by one point in the eight team Western Conference over FC London who had jumped them on Friday
night with a win at home against Oakville. London has two games in hand.

North Mississauga’s record falls to 9 wins, 5 losses, 5 ties for 32 points and are tied for third in the
West with TFC Academy.
