New York Red Bulls II v Toronto FC II (April 4, 2015) Preview

Toronto FC II’s extended road trip takes them to Harrison, New Jersey to face the New York Red Bulls II.  Last week TFCII won their first USL match last week in Montreal.  Goals have yet to be an issue for the young Reds, scoring two goals in each of their first two matches.

There were a couple roster changes this week, but not nearly to the level of last week during FIFA’s International Break.  Jordan Hamilton and Jay Chapman were reassigned back to TFCII from the first team after a brief stint.  The two of them, in addition to Christopher Mannella back from his time with the Canadian National Team, should be a boost for a match against a talented Red Bulls II team.

With the following week off, Jason Bent will be looking to go into the break on a happy note and one that gives minutes to most of the eighteen making the trip down.  Bent may elect for a similar starting eleven as the past two weeks.

GK – Alex Bono

LB – Wesley Charpie

CB – Daniel Fabrizi

CB – Marcus Godinho

RB – Mark Serjeant

M –  Jay Chapman

M –  Marcos Nunes

M –  Christopher Mannella (C)

M –  Mark Anthony Kaye

F –    Molham Babouli

F –    Jordan Hamilton

Offensively the team should have control as they have the past two matches, especially with the full squad mostly intake.  If there are any concerns, it will be control of the midfield as they’re still awaiting their general to emerge.  A second concern is whether the defense can stand strong.  Will Alex Bono be in control of himself and the backline as he was in Montreal or will we still another butterfly performance?

A win is expected but not a must in New Jersey.  As we saw last week, a call up and an MLS contract could happen at any time.  These youngsters will want to continue to impress and a strong performance on Saturday afternoon could go a long way very quickly.  The match begins at 3:30pm on Saturday, April 4th and can be seen on YouTube live streaming from Red Bull Arena.  You won’t want to miss this one.
