Hoilett and Aird Commit to Canada

Celebrate good times come on! This morning the CSA confirmed that Junior Hoilett has chosen to represent Canada. Since making a name for himself in the EPL, the QPR winger has refused to commit to a national team. His connection to Jamaica, via his father, and his time spent in England had many suspecting that Canada wasn’t his first choice. Personal friend,  former IMFC player and Jamaica international, Lloyd Barker suggested earlier today on Twitter that Canada was always Hoilett’s first choice.

Some fans have already been quick to disparage the news, pointing out Hoilett’s delay but I say, better late than never. The fact remains that our national team has significantly improved under the leadership of Bentio Floro but still has ways to go before qualifying for a World Cup. Hoilett will only improve their chances.

Over in Scotland, the Rangers have confirmed that Fraser Aird has been called up to CanMNT as well. With the boys set to face Ghana in preparation for their November 13th match up versus Honduras, Canada has received much needed reinforcements.
