#9 Toronto FC Top 2014 Moments

9. Doneil Henry’s winner vs the Crew

Manufactured or not, it’s a rivalry as old as, well, as old as TFC. Up until very recently the Crew absolutely dominated TFC. But on this beautiful day down by the lake, it was a hometown boy who sealed the deal with a last gasp header.

It was the definition of a see-saw battle. Justin Meram gave the Crew the lead. Jermain Defoe equalized from the spot a few minutes later. Agustin Viana pushed the Crew ahead once again in the 65th minute. With just 9 minutes of regular time remaining, Jermain Defoe buries a beautiful left-footed goal to equalize.

After just 2 minutes of stoppage time, a perfectly weighted Daniel Lovitz free kick into the box found the head of Doneil Henry who’s glancing header sent BMO Field into ecstasy. A come from behind victory courtesy of a hometown, homegrown hero, and a worthwhile yellow card for celebrating. It was a thing of beauty!
